I am a student at the Center for Employment Training (CET). I am writing this letter regarding your article in Bilingual Education, "Bilingualism falls from favor." I am a mother of three children and their ages are 16, 17 and 19. My two youngest attend Coachella Valley High School. Spanish was their first language since my husband and I knew no English. But they never had any problems learning how to speak English in school. Currently, they are doing very well in all their classes with out the help of any special classes. Their reading and writing potential in English is better then their Spanish.
