My Parents

Erick Bierlein, North Carolina

My parents came to the US over 30 years ago from Europe Both went to English classes at nite to learn their new language and the American system of government. Within two years they moved into the mainstream, and became very sucessful in business. They never forget their native language, or culture, but passed it on to their children, enriching us.

If they had remained, isolated, by means of a language barrier, they would have never become a real asset to their new country!! People come to the USA for chance for a better life, they want to fit-in. The agenta which supports native language studies only in schools for children of people of Spanish or other extractions is really creating a barrier, and second class citizenship. We are all different, a common language is the mud and cement which bonds, and makes us equally, and totally American.
