To The Editor: I'm writing this letter regarding about the article that I read on Thursday and says: California back plan to end bilingual education, poll finds." As an immigrant and resident of California, I want to bring up my own opinion to you and of my family that I asked about this issue. Our conclusion about this article was that the determination of the bilingual education is the best benefit for the children that are in bilingual classes. As my personal experience, when I first came to California most of my subjects were in bilingual and it didn't help me to speak English. I think that having classes in English for the Hispanic people is better than the bilingual because they could learn English very quickly at school and Spanish at home with their family. I think English and Spanish are very important languages in this country to communicate with all people. Eliminating the bilingual classes for all the children that are starting to learn English is very satisfactory and good start to a successful future. Sincerely, Beatriz Chavez |
