Dear Desert Sun Editor

I know people that went through school only in bilingual classes and I have noticed that they don't read very good and they have alot of trouble with their spelling. I have a sister who is right now in 10th grade. Before she was in school in Mexico but did her 9th grade here in a bilingual class and she knows barely anything in english, when she is doing her homework she is always asking me to help her. I think that if whe were in an english class she would know much more,.

When I started school in my classroom most of the children spoke english only a few of us spoke spanish but our teacher was bilingual. She gave the class in english and then explained to us in spanish the doubts that we had about the lesson. Before I even knew it I was in an english only class. I guess I learned english pretty fast. I am proud to say I read well and have good spelling.

In my opinion bilingual classes should be completely dismantled giving the students the opportunity to learn correctly and completely the english language.

Cordially
