Hooray!

Rhonda Fageol, October 03, 1997

Thank you for your Web Page and well-written comments! As a Kindergarten teacher in Orange County, I signed a "waiver" in 1982, started taking Spanish classes after work, and after 5 years of studying Spanish I am classroom fluent, but since I was also teaching reading in Spanish, there were not enough hours in the day for the children to get adequate English lessons.

I currently teach English to my Spanish and Vietnamese 5 year old kindergarteners. My district has an Option 1 contract with the state so we can teach English only. My students today are learning English faster than the children I worked with in the 80's when I was forced to teach Spanish Reading.
